Position Summary:

The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for assisting the IT Director with maintaining and provisioning all telephony and data systems within the agency. This position requires regular communication with the IT Director and acting as the point of contact for telephony and internet services at remote locations, with contract installers, and internet and phone service providers

Responsibilities:

The specialist will additionally be responsible for day-to-day technical support and maintenance of Partnership computers, printers, and network connections.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Retrieving quotes, pricing, and specifications from third party vendors and installers. May be required to attend professional meetings and training for the purpose of enhancing the quality of the data systems. Must be able to travel and stay overnight as needed. Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance required.

 

Work Relationships and Scope:

Reports directly to the Director of IT. Interfaces directly with all positions in the Partnership.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Associates Degree in technology related field and minimum 7-10 years in the field of verifiable experience working with telephone systems, servicing, maintaining and provisioning telephony systems. Knowledge of VOIP technologies and SIP trunking. Network+, A+, Security+ Leviton, MCP, and PBX certifications preferred

 

  • Understanding and knowledge of on-premises and cloud-based PBX, voicemail, unified messaging, and Microsoft Exchange communication between these systems.
  • Knowledge of PRI and VOIP technology and methodology.
  • Ability to directly interface with outside vendors with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair line trouble.
  • Ability to terminate and run data cabling using industry recognized standards.
  • Ability to manage PBX upgrade projects. Knowledge of Office 365, Azure, and cloud computing technologies.
  • Understanding of PC troubleshooting, acting as the second-tier support in a three-tier system.
  • Forward thinking; constantly reviewing current technologies and potential upgrade paths forward.
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot current operating systems and respective hardware.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, domain authentication, managed network switches, routers and PoE technologies.
  • Installation of network security cameras and digital video recorders.
  • Extensive knowledge of current server and desktop operating systems and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Good driving record required, as driving to sites within the North Alabama area will be frequent.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to directly interface with end users and provide superior customer service.
 

 

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office setting. Moderate travel to make various locations across North Alabama is required. This position requires sitting, standing, bending, and moderate lifting. This position requires a valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance and safe driving record.
