JOB TITLE: Foster Grandparent Coordinator                 STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

REPORTS TO: Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion Director

 

SALARY: $18.00                                                            DATE: November 2025

 

 

Position Summary:

The Foster Grandparent Program Coordinator will work closely with the Program Director to ensure that the program runs smoothly.  This is an AmeriCorp Seniors grant-funded full-time position serving the counties of Cullman, Lawrence, and Morgan. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction and collaboration of the Program Director, the Foster Grandparent Coordinator assists with recruiting, training, and completing Foster Grandparent paperwork that meets program requirements (e-grants, monitoring, surveys).
  • Visits volunteer stations as scheduled by the program Director in all 3 counties
  • Develops and maintains close coordination with volunteers and monitors volunteer assignments.
  • Coordinates initial and seasonal placements of Foster Grandparents and provides orientation to new stations under director of Program Director.  
  • Acts as a mediator to resolve concerns and/or conflicts between Foster Grandparents and volunteer stations.  
  • Assists with the organizing and implementing of in-service events, orientation training, special events and meetings, recognition events and/or volunteer stations.

  • Supports and understands the vision, mission and values of the Partnership.
  • Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
  • Works well with the Program Director.
  • Finds additional funds to support the program.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Represents the values of the Partnership in action and word. 
  • Establishing Advisory Council meetings and members.

 

Work Relationships and Scope:

Reports directly to the Foster Grandparent Program Director. Daily or regular interactions with others working directly with Foster Grandparents.  

 

Measure of Performance:

Key Results Areas (KRAs)

  • Creation of mutually beneficial partnerships with Foster Grandparents that achieve measurable results.
  • Volunteer recruitment.
  • Volunteer training.
  • Volunteer communication.
  • Volunteer data collection and reporting deadlines established by AmeriCorps and Program Director quarterly.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Mutually Beneficial Partnerships. Contacts at least one (1) current and at least one (1) potential community partner quarterly and records contact in contact record or data system.
  • Volunteer Recruitment.
    • Arranges, plans, and executes a minimum of two (2) recruitment on-site events annually.
    • Works with the Communications team to create at least one (1) recruitment campaign annually.
  • Volunteer Training. Participates in a minimum of 5 in-service events annually, 2 orientation events annually.
  • Volunteer Communication.
    • Visits volunteer stations at least quarterly.
  • Volunteer Data Collection and Reporting. Collects, enters, and reports payroll information monthly. Generates volunteer profile reports at least quarterly to monitor program and volunteer documentation expiration dates. Reports program outcomes to Compliance staff at least annually. Completes required programmatic outcome tracker and records/manages time accurately to fulfill funder and agency requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Mature understanding of senior adults and the needs of low-income families.  Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding when interacting with older adults and school contacts.  Organizational and data management skills to include attention to details.  Computer skills should include proficiency with Excel and all MS Office 365 platforms.  Should be flexible and have the ability to adjust to changing priorities.  Should be open to constructive feedback and a creative dialogue with the Volunteer management team.  Should provide case management of Foster Grandparents bookkeeping and secretarial duties.  

 

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office setting with minimal safety issues. Frequent travel to service sites meetings in the three county area. This position requires sitting, standing, bending, and minimal lifting. This position requires a valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance and safe driving record and an ABI/FBI background check clearance.  This is a full-time position.
