REPORTS TO: Senior Team Lead, Health and Data        DAYS: 230

BI-WEEKLY RATE: $1188.22-$1567.54; ($16.79-$22.15 HR)

 


Position Summary:

The Health and Safety Resource Specialist plays a vital role in promoting the health, nutrition, and safety of enrolled children and families by ensuring program compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and maintaining accurate health, safety, and nutrition data to support program outcomes and continuous improvement efforts. The specialist oversees licensing requirements, health and safety standards Performance Standards, nutrition services, collaborating with staff, community partners to ensure a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Child Care Licensing/Safety:

  • Schedule and complete annual health and safety/licensing monitoring visit for assigned centers/sites. Complete Corrective Action Plan, Upload and Follow up completed within 2 weeks prior of visit.
  • Schedule and complete annual playground inspection to check for health and safety hazards, condition of playground equipment, fencing condition, and fall zone needs in ensure compliance with Child Care Licensing, Performance Standards, QRIS, and/or CPSC.
  • Work in conjunction with the Center Directors for tracking the condition of the playground equipment & looking for opportunities to add/replace on Children’s Services playgrounds and ordering as needed. This includes but is not limited to, getting quotes from playground companies, entering Purchase Requests into the Purchase Order Request System, ordering the items once approved, & entering work orders (Facility Work Order System) once the item(s) have shipped.
  • Annual Health and Safety Screeners completed within 45 days of first day of start date on assigned centers in assigned district.

 

Data:

  • Monitor (ChildPlus) developmental screenings, sensory, behavioral, motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual, and emotional concerns within required time of 45 calendar days.
  • Follow up with the appropriate staff and supervisor concerning any 45-day mandate that has not been entered into data system.
  • Follow up with the appropriate staff and supervisor concerning any 90-day mandate that has not been entered into data system.
  • Monitor to ensure all rescreen data is entered into ChildPlus by the child’s 90 day of enrollment.
  • Assist in following up with providers to inquire and/or request required Physical, Dental, and/or Immunization documentation
  • Monitor and follow-up on Immunizations expiring or documentation not entered in program’s data system.
  • Monitor and follow up on ensure enrolled children are up-to-date on a (EPSDT) schedule of age-appropriate preventive care.
  • ChildPlus Data Training for new staff and refresher training as needed for existing staff.

Nutrition:

  • Complete USDA monitoring for assigned sites 3 times/year and address concerns, if needed.
  • Monitor assigned centers sign in and out sheets monthly for accurate dates, meals claimed, designation of meals not eaten, times in and out, and parent signatures and checking CP report (reports 1003) for accuracy of all information listed.
  • Communicate with center staff regarding any follow up needed from sign in and outs and CP data. Entering final sheets into assigned one drive folder.
  • Monitors Pre-Admission form uploads month.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Annually create and provide content training information in conjunction with other Health Team staff to staff via webinars or in person.
  • Attend scheduled team meetings
  • Communicate with Center Director’s (CD), and other support staff concerning issues found during monitoring and provide guidance on follow up
  • Operate with minimal guidance to successfully complete work in a timely manner.

 

Work Relationships and Scope:

Daily reporting/working relationship with the Senior Team Lead, Health and Data. There will be frequent interaction with CD’s, District Managers, Senior Team Lead Staff, Resource Specialist, Support Staff, Facilities/Property Management staff, center staff, vendors, contactors, various State agency officials and partnering school staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent customer service skills. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve a variety of issues. Must know to use minimal hand tools and measuring devices. Proficient use of technology to ensure documentation of work and communication with others. Working knowledge of MS Office required. Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions. Must be able to plan and efficiently use time and resources. Time management and effective record keeping skills required. Excellent written and verbal communication is necessary with all customers, internal or external.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors and requires travel to sites throughout northern Alabama counties. This position may require sitting, standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, and/or stretching/reaching. Travel to outside meetings and Partnership classroom sites throughout northern Alabama. This position requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, clearance of the State Registry on Child Abuse/Neglect and a State and Federal Background Check.
