JOB TITLE: EHS Resource Specialist                 STATUS: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: EHS Content Team Leader         DAYS: 245 per year

GRADE LEVEL / HOURLY RATE: 19 / $15.27     DATE: 9-2017

 

 

Position Summary:

This position will report to the Early Head Start Content Team Leader and serve as a primary resource to the organization to ensure education plans and objectives of the Early Head Start Program are achieved. This position will model and train classroom staff in addition to monitoring the performance of classroom staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts ITERS, Toddler CLASS, and TIPTO assessments and creates an Action Plan for classrooms based on the results of the assessments to ensure high quality.
  • Maintains ITERS, CLASS, and TIPTO certification.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and coaching support to classroom staff.
  • Use the Practice Based Coaching model to support staff’s implementation of quality teaching practices.
  • Creates and/or supports coaching plans for classroom staff.
  • Promotes School Readiness Goals and provides strategies to increase children’s outcomes.
  • Encourage, empower and support classroom staff through training and site visits.
  • Coordinates with program staff and Early Head Start CTL regarding on-going classroom visits and education training support for staff and families.
  • Models appropriate strategies and techniques to classroom staff to promote relationship based interactions, focused learning experiences.
  • Review, monitor and follow-up with classroom orders, invoices and purchase requisitions.
  • Monitor, review and maintain classroom quality to ensure sage and positive learning environments.
  • Work and coordinate with Children’s Services Staff during Reading Is Fundamental distributions, pack books and distribute for each Early Head Start classroom three times a year. Collect all in-kind and documentation required for RIF.
  • Serve as an advocate for children and family issues in the community.
  • Works with EHS CTL to create education plans, forms and calendars for classroom use.
  • Supports classroom staff with developing lesson plans and establishing routines for young children.
  • Ensure the curricula and assessments system is used to fidelity.
  • Promotes and supports classroom staff in reporting accurate data collection for Early Head Start Outcomes and analyzes data reports to plan training and purchasing of classroom materials.
  • Supports Early Head Start CTL with developing and conducting training to promote quality learning environments.
  • Stays current on all areas of early childhood strategies and practices and provides resources to classroom staff.
  • Assist in interviewing classroom staff.
  • Attends external training to increase professional development in the infant toddler practices and experiences.
  • Works with all agency personnel in providing a team approach to planning and preparation integrating all components into classroom activities.
  • Recruit for Early Head Start Program.
  • Reports and recommends professional development to Early Head Start CTL, CSCS, Coaching Staff, and Director of Children’s Services for classroom staff not performing at a level of the program’s expectations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support and understand the vision, mission and values of the Partnership.
  • Attends community activities and meetings appropriate for the Program.
  • Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

Work Relationships and Scope:

Reports directly to the Early Head Start Content Team Leader concerning work related tasks and locations. Regular interaction with EHS-CTL, CSCS, Family Engagement staff, Content Team Leaders, and Coaching staff. Occasional interaction with the general public and Federal and State regulatory agencies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree required in Early Childhood Education with at least three years of experience in an educational environment or related field (Special Education, Child Development, Speech and Language Development. Qualification would include experience working with young children, accurate, detail oriented, dependable, computer literate, and good interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

Occasional work is performed in an office setting with minimal safety issues. Frequent travel is required travel to outside meetings and Partnership sites throughout northern Alabama counties. This position requires sitting, standing, bending, and minimal lifting. This position requires a valid driver’s license, valid insurance and safe driving record.
