JOB TITLE:  Resource Specialist - Education                STATUS:       Non-Exempt               
REPORTS TO:  Education Content Team Leader          DAYS:           230 per year
 
GRADE LEVEL / HOURLY RATE:  17 / $12.43             DATE:          June 2013
 
 
 
Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Education-CTL in providing support to the classrooms and Area Support Staff including directly providing support and training based on program and staff need to continually increase quality performance.  Promote and provide individualized teacher support to broaden the foundational professional growth through regular coaching sessions.  Focus on providing direct assistance to teachers in the classroom, which will strengthen teacher-child interactions.
 
Responsibilities:
 
 
  • Creates education service plans in collaboration with Education Content Team Leader.
  • Reviews and supports all aspects of education program service needs and areas of improvement.
  • Conducts CLASS assessments as needed.
  • Creates and/or supports coaching plans for teachers and teacher assistants.
  • Support School Readiness Goals and promotes gains in children’s outcomes.
  • Coordinates with Early Head Start and Head Start staff regarding on-going classroom visits and education training support for staff and families.
  • Conducts site visits and monitoring for quality on a regular basis.
  • Complete assessments, Preschool and Early Head Start classrooms and creates an Action Plan for classrooms based on the results of the assessments to ensure high quality.
  • Communicates with classroom staff and ATLs to enhance the implementation of quality classroom support.
  • Models appropriate strategies and techniques frequently to promote interactive, focused learning experiences.
  • Reviews classroom orders for developmentally appropriate materials for both Early Head Start and Preschool Head Start.
  • Works cooperatively to ensure classrooms exceed minimum standards for licensing.
  • Set-up classrooms to provide rich learning environment and productive interactions.
  • Participates in meetings and committees as needed.
  • Assist in collecting information to assist in grant applications for Head Start Program as requested.
  • Coordinate Reading Is Fundamental distributions, pack books for each classroom three times a year, gather RIF information and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Gather input from various sources and integrate information into the program’s goals and objectives.
  • Serve as an advocate for children and family issues in the community
  • Provide support and strategies promoting education services to children and families.
  • Coordinates communication; downloads/forwards information to groups and individuals concerning educational issues.
  • Promotes and supports classroom staff in reporting accurate data collection for Head Start Outcome and analyzes data reports to plan training and purchasing of classroom materials.
  • Encourage, empower and support classroom staff through training and site visits.
  • Develops and conducts internal and external training to promote quality learning environments.
  • Stays current on all areas of early childhood strategies and practices and provides resources to classroom staff.
  • Assist in interviewing classroom staff as requested.
  • Attends external training to increase professional development in the early childhood practices and experiences.
  • Serve as curriculum Trainers for Early Head Start and Head Start Program.
  • Provide team support during the Self Assessment Process.
  • Assists E-CTL with updating of educational forms and calendars for classroom use.
  • Works with all agency personnel in providing a team approach to planning and preparation integrating all components into classroom activities.
  • Recruit for Early Head Start and Head Start Program.
  • Provide input into the agency budget for items in content area.
  • Reports and recommends professional development and corrective action plans to Education-CTL , ATL and Director of Children’s Services for classroom staff not performing at an unsatisfactory level of the program’s expectations.

Work Relationships and Scope:
 
Reports directly to the Education Content Team Leader concerning work related tasks and locations.  Regular interaction with E-CTL, Director of Children’s Services, ATL and co-workers are used to strengthen communication.   Occasional interaction with the general public and Federal and State regulatory agencies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
Bachelor’s degree required in Early Childhood Education with at least three years of experience in an educational environment or related field (Special Education, Child Development, Speech and Language Development.  Qualification would include experience working with young children, accurate, detail oriented, dependable, computer literate, and good interpersonal skills. 
 
Working Conditions:
 
Occasional work is performed in an office setting with minimal safety issues.  Frequent travel is required travel to outside meetings and Partnership sites throughout northern Alabama counties.  This position requires sitting, standing, bending, and minimal lifting.  This position requires a valid driver’s license, valid insurance and safe driving record.
